AAA: Gas Prices Continue to Fall Ahead of July 4th Holiday

Gas prices are continuing to trend downward nationwide, a trend that isn’t likely to change between now and the July 4th holiday. That’s according to the national auto club AAA, which reports that the national average prices for a gallon of gas has dipped another few cents this week, and is down nearly twenty cents since this time a month ago. AAA spokesperson Nick Jarmusz says prices here in Iowa have been on a similar decline. Factors on both the supply and demand side are helping bring gas prices down. Those influences have more of an impact on gas prices than just about any other consumer product. Jarmusz expects gas prices could fall another few cents ahead of the 4th of July, which could inspire some additional travelers over the holiday. AAA projects that 47 million Americans will be traveling sometime between July 3rd and 8th. That would be the highest Independence Day travel volume on record.
